Good glass, threads are undersized though.

The glass is clear, but the threads on the back of the magnifier for threading into the objective lens directly require an adapter for direct thread into the objective lens, the threads on the outside are the only ones in spec, and the magnifier is wobbly when threaded into the objective lens. Once you figure out how to squeeze the adapter between the friction adapter and the magnifier threads, and get it squeezed in solid, it actually locks up ok on the outside of the lens with a firm friction fit. I like the friction fit, but I would have liked to see a much better direct thread interface with a direct thread into the friction cup, rather than having to try and assemble it the way it is. And perhaps the O-Ring in the friction mount could have been a bit more shallow in there.

I bought a Varmint V2 50/384 thermal. I mounted it on a 22 arc ar15 platform. I worked up the same loads that Hornady developed for the rifle. I shot a 3 shot group at 100yds that were smaller than a dime. I had a hot hands behind the target and it was completely gone. The barrel is a BCA 20 " heavy barrel. Between the thermal and the barrel it is a fantastic set up. Great thermal. I wish I could add a pic of the target.

Rattler V3 35-384

Bought the 35-384 Jan 26,2026. I love it ! I really like the ability to connect the device to my phone. Once I figured out the procedure ( AGM does not show this in the manual ) it is real easy to connect. The LRF and BC both work great. Anybody on the fence deciding to buy this rig don't let the 384 scare you away. Where I hunt I have no problem seeing the barbwire fence 300 yards away. Just be certain the 3.5 base mag is what you need. My only gripe is that it is not the easiest to look through in the broad daylight.

I have the Varmint and I couldn't get the rangefinder to work unless it was handheld. I emailed CS and they responded in a timely matter. They told me to cover the end of my barrel with vet wrap. That solved the problem.
Awesome thermal scope and great CS. We have been hog and coyote hunting with it and it works great.

I just upgraded my Rattler V2 19-256 to an Adder V2 LRF 35-384. I absolutely love this thermal! Very clear and easy to function. The LRF is spot on accurate. The screen is very clear and I can see detail on critters over 200 yards out. I can identify coyotes from fox and other animals at least 350 to 400 yards out easily. High quality scope and the battery life is great. Very happy with this purchase. I now use the Rattler V2 for my spotting monocular scanner.

I have taken coyotes at 300yds with this scope. Can ID deer, coyotes and other medium game out to 600yds. Great for closer range as well with the 2x base magnification.

I bought a bearing hogster back in 2021 and needed an upgrade for me and my wife and I had a great recommendation to AGM and was able to hunt with 1 before I bought them so I knew what I was getting next. I bought 2 V2 35-384 back in January of 2026. I was able to mount both scopes on a 223 ar-15 and a 308 ar-10. then have them sighted in dead on in less then 30 minutes. We took them out that night and was able to bring in 21 hogs. They are accurate, User friendly and have amazing clear, clean, and crisp imaging. Identifying hogs and coyotes at 300-500 yards is not a problem whatsoever. I will forever recommend AGM!!

I like this product, it's perfect for my usage in a 50 acre field ~½ mile in length. I can't always identify a hog from a quarter mile away, but I can detect it.
Regarding firmware updates, AGM should put the warning about removing the batteries ahead of the list of instructions, not aftwards.

Bad LRF but Good Scope

I love the clarity of this scope but the selling point of this scope is the LRF which is extremely unreliable. AGM did replace my first unit but the 2nd one also decides to not range anything beyond 60 yards. It is not consistent on when it decides to not work either which is puzzling. Sometimes it will read deer at 500 yards and other times it won't read anything outside 60 yards. It is quite disappointing that it doesn't work right because it would be an awesome unit if it worked correctly. It's now discontinued (how surprising). I wish I would have bought a different non-LRF AGM product or a different brand completely. The new Rattler V3 looks cool but I'm now weary of buying AGM products that don't work as advertised and being stuck with them.

I would say it’s a solid optic for the price! Not a long range scope by any means….have found it a bit hard to make out smaller animals from 100 yards. Super easy to sight in very user friendly! Would definitely recommend it!

This was my very 1st thermo unit. I now have others and better AGM thermo scopes. I still use this 5-6 nights a week before I go to bed just to see what’s in my pasture. Out to 100+ yards I can easily tell what it is, rabbit, raccoon, etc. I can see deer at 800 yards knowing it is deer but at that distance it could be deer, horses, or cows. At 400 bucks, it was well worth it

Than I would have ever imagined. I was able to pick up all living things at night around my neighborhood with ease. After you get the shaking part down and you remain calm and focused you will be able to mark everything with pin point precision when it comes to whatever night owl you plan to kill or capture. I give the rattler 5 stars. Without the rattler I would’ve never found out my neighbor was a psychopath. I used it for counter surveillance and it’s definitely something you would want if you needed clear cut pictures to use in court.

This scope is awesome for the money. This is my first thermal and I've had no problems whatsoever. Put it on a 10/22 and it's a bad machine at night. I can see birds roosting in trees, mice all over the woods, and anything and everything else that sneaks around all night. I highly recommend this unit.

Decent unit.The brightness even at the lowest setting is to bright for long viewing times and gives me fatigue really quick.I have a rattler v3 on order and should be here soon and I hope the scope is not the same with the brightness issues i have with the taipan v2.the quality seems pretty good minus the cap cover broke off on the 2nd time out and I'll have to see if I can get a replacement.overall I am liking the monocular and hopefully with some firmware updates we can get some more setting options.this is a review of 3 outings and this is my first monocular will keep this updated as I use it.will review the v3 when I recieve it and get it out in the field, im using a pulsar talion now but im hoping the agm rattler will fill the void I've been looking for

Purchased the scope a few days before a hunt. Setup and dialing it in took about 15 min. Set the ballistic calculations and have been knocking down coyotes from 60 to 405 yards. I love the compact setup and the ease of use. Sometimes with the ballistic calculator turned on it’s a little finicky getting the yardage but when it brings up the secondary holdover point for longer yardages it’s spot on. The built in the lens lrf is great and works flawlessly. I have spent roughly 15 hours behind this scope and have 11 coyotes under it so far. Super impressed.

I previously wrote a review with 'not so good' remarks, due to the battery running down very quickly, I contacted customer service and they sent a new pressure switch (remote switch) and this did indeed fix the problem. I am very pleased with the product and with the customer service. I can highly recommend this product. I am a real shooter use my equipment pretty hard.
